Officers responding to the call from a Cedar Lane apartment complex just after 6:30 p.m. Friday found Evan Goodwin crossing the nearby Anderson Street Bridge into Teaneck, Police Chief Glenn O’Reilly said Tuesday.
He “appeared to be under the influence of alcohol,” was “extremely uncooperative answering questions posed to him” and “repeatedly refused to comply with lawful commands given to him,” O’Reilly said.
Goodwin was brought to headquarters and charged with robbery, burglary, resisting arrest and obstruction.
A judge ordered him held in the Bergen County Jail – where, this time, he remained Tuesday pending further court action.
Goodwin has been arrested several times the past two years – on charges that include burglary, robbery and weapons possession – in Hackensack, Little Ferry and Maywood, records show.
He spent a month in the Bergen County Jail before a judge allowed his release after Hackensack police charged him in November with aggravated assault, weapons possession and obstruction.
Just two months earlier, city police charged him with theft and conspiracy.
Altogether, Goodwin was arrested and sent to the county lockup five times last year, records show.
